Abstract

People create symbols, units, models, and experimental practices, but they do not freely choose the world those tools must describe. This paper asks how much mathematics, science, and measurement depend on people. It separates questions about reality, knowledge, and representation through twenty-one testable pairs. The resulting view is provisional: people shape knowledge while remaining constrained by structures they did not create.

Introduction

This is independent personal research, undertaken autonomously and without organizational sponsorship. It draws only on public sources, personal reasoning, and bounded experiments where useful; it contains no confidential material. The ideas are provisional and may change as evidence improves.

The question is simple to state: how much of mathematics, science, and measurement comes from the world, and how much comes from the way people observe and describe it? I separate reality, knowledge, and representation so that evidence for one kind of dependence is not mistaken for another. The twenty-one questions organize a personal research program; they do not report completed validation.
